Wilson's fame travelled to America in 2014 when she starred as a character on Showtimes The Affair. She played Alison Lockhart, a young woman who is struggling with her past and becomes involved with Noah Solloway. Wilson won an award for her performance, the Golden Globe award for Best Actress in a Television Series Drama, alongside Mauratierney as well as Joshua Jackson. Wilson told British Vogue, "I loved playing an actor who could be each side of this story." Noah thinks of Alison as this confident reckless sexually attractive version of her. She sees her own self in a completely different light. On the inside she's not sure and wants to blend into the background. Wilson also stated that she believes America to be so moralistic. Wilson has left The Simpsons in 2018, did not provide any details. Wilson was a part of the horror film I Am the Pretty Thing who lives in the house in 2016 and then in the rom-com with a sci-fi twist How to Talk to Girls in Parties in which she played the mysterious PT Stella. Her filmography will soon include an additional film from the horror style. This British version of The Little Stranger is an supernatural thriller, based upon the Sarah Waters novel. Wilson also produces the film.
