Nicole Ari Parker was born in New York City. The actress is American stage and film actress. The most well-known role she has played is was that of Teri her passionate lawyer Teri Jospehson on the Showtime television series Soul Food. Nikki Kodjoe became her stage name following her marriage. She was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland she showed an inclination toward acting since the age of five and was awarded the Best Actress prize at the Maryland high school competition. Following her time in the theater and 'The Washington Ballet Company she received a master's degree in acting from 'New York University. Contractor was born at Mumbai in India, was raised in Nigeria through the age of seven. She'd been exposed to many different travels and cultures from a early age. She was a boarding student in London from seven to nine, after which her family moved into Toronto, Canada, where she lived for the bulk of her childhood and young adulthood. Contractor was a brilliant pupil in Toronto and was trained as a classical ballet dancer. The Etobicoke School of the Arts (a public school for high schools that is specialized in the arts) she studied dance and theatre. Contractor started acting at the age of 16 and was a part of the theater for a decade after spending ten years in dance. When she completed her high school education, she was awarded a full Scholarship to University of Toronto. At the University of Toronto she completed a Masters in Theatre and also double majored with sociology and psychology. Contractor was a participant in the highly acclaimed Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Ontario, Canada, for Pericles. After one full year, she was awarded the lead part. The play received rave reviews and her performance in the 92 shows performed in the production. It was also voted as the best production by Canadian reviewers in 2002. She was invited to attend Stratford's conservatory. This is a course which allows just four men and eight women can take the 20-week crash course of classical theater. The actress's spot in the next play season was secured and she was chosen of Hermia.
